October 2020 General Conference Jeopardy

October 4, 2020 by Montserrat | 24 Comments

Find the April 2021 General Conference Jeopardy here!

Another wonderful “in home” gathering for General Conference has been completed. What stood out to you from the messages that were given?

We heard many on being prepared physically and spiritually, as well as looking forward with faith, hope, and joy.

October 2020 General Conference Jeopardy

This version of Jeopardy includes questions from every single speaker from all four general sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Download the October 2020 General Conference Jeopardy game at the bottom of this post.

The categories for the first round are: Doctrinal Mastery, Words of Wisdom, Stories Told, Prophets & Apostles, and What Should We Do.

The categories for Double Jeopardy are: Funny Thing, Words of a Prophet, What is the Subject, Grab Bag, and Lists Given.

Also the Words of the Prophet category are from President Russell M. Nelson from this past conference. The doctrinal mastery are all from the Book of Mormon.

GAME INSTRUCTIONS

Each team must have a copy of the scriptures! The Doctrinal Mastery category covers references given from The Book of Mormon since this is the book of study for seminary students for this year.

Open the game in PowerPoint Viewer. Depending on your version of PowerPoint you will be asked if you want to enable macros. Yes, you do! You might also have to push “play” in the upper right of your screen again depending on your version of PowerPoint.

Click through the first screen to get to the game board. A student picks a category and a dollar amount. You click on that dollar amount and it will take you to the question. Another click will take you to the answer. THEN click on the green triangle at the bottom of the answer slide and it will take you back to the game board. Hopefully the question previously picked will now be dark and only the “unasked” questions will be highlighted. When you finish Round 1 you will click on the Round 2 box and repeat as above. When you finish round 2 you will then click on Final Jeopardy.

Many people open the game to try it out and then get worried because the amounts will darken after they are clicked on. Don’t worry! To reset the game all you need to do is close it out and reopen it.

You will need to keep score as the powerpoint won’t do that.

HAVE FUN!

I recommend downloading both the powerpoint and the pdf file.

Google Slides

Here is a link to the game in Google Slides. Click on the “Present” button in the upper right corner of the screen to play. Use the instructions above for the powerpoint to play. Google Slides WILL NOT change the link color once a question has been chosen so you will need to keep track of which category/dollar amounts have already been answered as well as keep track of the score.

This is really wonderful. I wonder if it would be possible to save it as an OpenOffice file so those of us without powerpoint could access it as well? I’ve downloaded it and opened the file in OpenOffice, but the macros don’t work. At least, I assume, that’s what isn’t working as it just takes me though the slides in order rather than letting me choose which question to do. I

Yes! I use your game every Conference in my seminary class, but there are always technical difficulties because I don’t have Microsoft Office. Open Office or Google Slides would be amazing! Thanks again for all your work!

Ashley, Kriste, and Erin I did get it uploaded to Google Slides. Slides won’t change the link color once it is clicked on like powerpoint does so you will need to keep track of which category/dollar amounts have already been used but everything else works!
