Doctrine and Covenants 64-66 – The Lord Requireth the Heart and a Willing Mind

Saints, Volume 1 – The Gift Has Returned – Narrative history of events surrounding the revelations

Video – The Heart and a Willing Mind – (D&C 64:34) Elder Heber C. Kimball and his family willingly serve the Lord as Elder Kimball leaves first from Kirtland and then from Nauvoo to preach the gospel in England. (7:56 minutes)

Video – Required to Forgive – (D&C 64:9-11) W. W. Phelps tells how he was forgiven by Joseph Smith. (7:51 minutes)

Video – How am I Going to Tell Her I’m Sorry? – As a child, Travis did all he could to anger his mother. When she died in a plane crash, he was burdened with guilt for his actions. He prayed for forgiveness and felt the Savior’s consuming love. (6:37 minutes)

Children

Activity – I can Follow Jesus with My Heart and Mind – Color and draw ways you can follow Jesus.

Activity – Origami Hearts – Make these hearts as you talk about ways we show love for the Lord and ways He shows love for us.

Activity – “Following Jesus” – Three challenges that help us choose to forgive.

Activity – Joseph Moves to Ohio page 1 and page 2 – Read the illustrated story of Joseph and Emma moving to Ohio. Then have your children color these scripture figures, cut them out, and retell the story in their own words.

Article/Activity – “I Forgive You” – Includes a lesson and coloring activity about walking in others’ shoes.

Article – Trying Together – Read this story to see how a boy and his mom learned to forgive each other.

Article – “Sister Squabble”  – Jaide gets mad when her sister ruins her shoes and says some mean things to her. They both apologize and forgive each other.  

Article – “Poison” – Jeni learns that when we get angry and don’t forgive, we only hurt ourselves.

Poster – The Lord Knows Who I Am and Loves Me – Print and hang where you can see it each day.

Video – The Goal: A Story of Faith, Friendship, and Forgiveness – This humorous video depicts the spiritual journey two friends go through as they struggle to forgive each other in their quest to follow the covenant path. (7:27 minutes)

Article – Line Upon Line: Lay the Foundation – Dig deeper into Doctrine and Covenants 64:33-34 with these study helps.

Article – Finding Strength to Forgive – The Lord has commanded us to forgive others. He will help us to keep His commandments, including this one.

This 30 day countdown to Easter utilizes The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles. Each day focuses on a portion of that document – either a sentence or a paragraph or a name of Christ.

There are scriptures to read, discussion questions, and even additional activity ideas for each day!

Hello! Welcome to A Gospel Centered Home. I’m Mont Hello! Welcome to A Gospel Centered Home. I’m Montserrat. My husband, Joseph, and I have eleven children. We’ve raised them on lots of love and land on a farm in Northern Nevada. Four of our daughters are married and another will be getting married this Saturday! (Last photo) Our 10th grandchild was born December 30th! We currently have a son serving as a missionary in the Michigan Detroit Mission. We still have four children at home.

One highlight of 2025 was getting to help with the open house for the Elko Nevada Temple. It was a memorable experience.

In our many years of parenting we have learned that teaching the gospel can be really simple. You don’t need a lot of fluff. The church has produced a TON of resources for parents over the years. Each week I link to those free resources on church websites to help you teach your children. I try to find a wide variety of activities, articles, music, artwork, and videos. While I often forget to post here on Instagram, I always post on the blog. You can find the link in the profile.
