Introductory Pages of the Book of Mormon

There were a TON of resources I found for this week’s reading. Way too many to post here and still there are a lot! There are enough to keep kids and youth engaged all of Sunday and to do a family home evening lesson on Monday.

Audio – The Angel Moroni and the Gold Plates – In this episode, a Primary teacher and children learn about the angel Moroni and the gold plates. Three years after the First Vision, Joseph Smith was visited by the angel Moroni, who told him about the gold plates. Joseph went to the hill where the plates were buried but was unable to retrieve them for four more years.

Audio – Martin Harris and the Lost Pages – In this episode, a Primary teacher and children learn about the story of Martin Harris and the lost pages. Joseph Smith began translating the gold plates, with Martin Harris supporting his efforts. After the first 116 pages had been translated, Martin Harris took them home and lost them.

Audio – Witnesses See the Gold Plates – In this episode, a Primary teacher and children learn about the witnesses to the Book of Mormon. Martin Harris, Oliver Cowdery, and David Whitmer were shown the gold plates by an angel so they could testify the plates were real. Later, eight more people were allowed to hold the plates.
