Video – The Soul’s Sincere Desire  – As we put God as a priority and seek Him through sincere prayer, we can find peace in our busy lives. (3:28 minutes)

Children

Podcast – The Sermon on the Mount – A Primary teacher and children recite the tales of the Sermon on The Mount, the greatest sermon ever given, and Christ’s teachings on prayer. We must do unto others as we would have them do unto us, and pray privately and earnestly to our Father in Heaven in order to obtain happiness and peace in our lives.

I can pray to my Heavenly Father as Jesus did. Heavenly Father will hear and answer me when I pray.

Story – The Light – a dramatic story about how the Lord saved a boy’s drowning father. Tell the story in your own words, turning on a flashlight at the appropriate time. Discuss how prayer can bring more light into our lives.

Youth and Adults

Living the Savior’s teachings can help me become like Him.

Article – He Marked the Path and Led the Way – When we follow Jesus Christ, doing what He did, we can confidently return to our heavenly home.

Article – The Merciful Obtain Mercy – When our hearts are filled with the love of God, we become “kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving.”

Article – The Measure of Our Hearts – The Lord measures the heart as an indicator of the person’s capacity and potential to bless others.

What does it mean to use “vain repetitions” in prayer?

Article – “What can I do to make my prayers less repetitive and more meaningful?” – To avoid vain repetition, learn to pray with “real intent —that is, pray with sincerity and with the intent to act in faith.

The Savior taught us how to pray. Heavenly Father answers prayers.

Article – How to Rely on the Protective Power of Prayer – Every honest and sincere prayer strengthens you.

Article – The Lord Jesus Christ Teaches Us to Pray – When you pray, are you really praying or just saying prayers?

Article – Pray Always – Prayer becomes more meaningful as we counsel with the Lord in all of our doings, as we express heartfelt gratitude, and as we pray for others.

I can judge righteously.

Article – How Do We “Judge Righteous Judgment”? – As we learn to judge righteously, we model the Lord’s perfect judgment, mercy, and grace.

I come to know Jesus Christ by doing His will.

Article – Yielding Our Hearts to God – When we open ourselves to the Spirit, we learn God’s way and feel His will.

Article – If Ye Had Known Me – David A. Bednar describes the process of coming to know the Savior, which includes exercising faith in Him, following Him, serving Him, and believing Him.

Obeying the Savior’s teachings creates a firm foundation for my life. If we hear and act on the Lord’s teachings, our lives will be built on a firm foundation.

Article – Blessed Are Ye – The Sermon on the Mount is the Lord’s invitation to sacrifice those things that cause spiritual distress.

We can identify true and false prophets by their fruits.

Article – Look to the Prophet – There is comfort and safety in trusting, believing, and following the prophet.

Article – Beware of False Prophets and False Teachers – Beware of those who speak and publish in opposition to God’s true prophets.

Article- “By Their Fruits Ye Shall Know Them” – In Matthew’s account, the Lord warned his listeners about false prophets and reassured them that true prophets could be known by their fruits—by the goodness of their lives and their works and the sweetness of their doctrine.
