Gathered in this post are resources to help you teach your family not only the stories of the people in the Old Testament but also the doctrine and principles found in the study block for the Come, Follow Me reading of Nahum; Habakkuk; Zephaniah. There are resources for children, youth, and adults. Every resource linked to is free! Most links are to church websites or websites approved for further gospel study. Choose on thing a day to do with your family or a couple to do for family home evening. Enjoy!

Everyone

Video – The Will of God – God uses love-inspired correction to guide us to a future we do not or cannot now envision but which He knows is the better way for us. (3:02 minutes)

Video – Make It a Good Day – Happy Families – In the video, we get a glimpse of a day in the life of the Kenny family. No matter what the day brings, they can make it a good one if they work together.(4:23 minutes)

Primary Children

“The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble.” Nahum 1:7

Activity/Article – Sharing Time: Trust in the Lord – Discussion about trusting in the Lord and examples from the Old Testament of people who trusted the Lord. Includes a dot-to-dot activity about Rebekah at the well.

Story – Keep Going, Josie! – Josie’s teammates encourage her during a race. She realizes Jesus also cheers us on.

God will always fulfill His promises. Habakkuk 2:3

Story – Waiting for Jesus – A young girl learns the importance of waiting.

Video – Samuel and the Star – Samuel predicted many things that would precede the Savior’s birth, including a new star appearing in the sky. The faithful believed in Samuel’s prophetic words. And sure enough, five years later, all of Samuel’s prophecies were fulfilled, including a new star shining brightly in the heavens. (3:04 minutes)

Activity – Tender Mercies – An activity for remembering the blessings Heavenly Father sends us every day. Includes a recipe for spiced nuts.

Article – What can we do when hard things happen to us? – Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares some thoughts on this subject.

“Seek ye the Lord.” Zephaniah 2:3

Activity – Seek Ye the Lord – Search and find coloring page

Music – Seek the Lord Early – Sing along to this Primary song.

Those who follow Jesus Christ will find peace and joy. Zephaniah 3:14-20

Article – Special Witness: How can I make the right decisions when bad things are all around? – Elder Richard G. Scott tells how we can stay righteous and have peace in a world full of challenges.

Story – He Is There – Sister Rosemary M. Wixom, the Primary General President, talks about a time her son was very sick. Although she was scared, she prayed and felt peace. We are never alone.
