Gathered in this post are resources to help you teach your family not only the stories of the people in the Old Testament but also the doctrine and principles found in the study block for the Come, Follow Me reading of Daniel 1-6. There are resources for children, youth, and adults. Every resource linked to is free! Most links are to church websites or websites approved for further gospel study. Choose on thing a day to do with your family or a couple to do for family home evening. Enjoy!

Everyone

Video – God Gave Them Knowledge – (Daniel 1-2) Daniel shows obedience to the commandments of the Lord by not eating the King’s wine and meat. (13:49 minutes)

Video – What is a Revelatory Dream? – Revelatory dreams play an important role in the Old Testament, especially in the books of Genesis and Daniel. This Come, Follow Me Insights video discusses “What is a revelatory dream?” and provides several examples from prophets and apostles of important revelatory dreams that have been received in this dispensation. Article – My Grandfather’s Dream – What my grandfather saw helped him to understand the power and truth of the gospel.

Article – A Marvelous Work and a Wonder – As men have attempted to assess the Church at a given period of time, in many instances they have not been able to see its forward movement and potential. The growth of the Church, like the growth of grass or trees, has been almost imperceptible to the eye, but little by little, line by line, precept by precept, the Church has matured.

Article – The Stone Cut Without Hands – You will be interested to note that the Church is growing rapidly in many foreign lands, as well as in our own country.

Receiving revelation requires spiritual preparation. Daniel 2:1-30

Article – The Faith to Ask and then to Act – Faith in Jesus Christ is the key to receiving revelations of truth.

Article – Spiritual Capacity – As Jesus Christ’s faithful disciple, you can receive personal inspiration and revelation, consistent with His commandments, that is tailored to you.

When the outcome is uncertain, we can still choose faith. Daniel 3

Article – But if Not . . . – Men accomplish marvelous things by trusting in the Lord and keeping His commandments—by exercising faith even when they don’t know how the Lord is shaping them.

Article – Standing with God – What does it mean to stand as a witness of God? It means we will not bow down or give in or be persuaded to do anything contrary to God’s will.

Article – Be Not Afraid, Only Believe – When we choose to believe, exercise faith unto repentance, and follow our Savior, Jesus Christ, we open our spiritual eyes to splendors we can scarcely imagine.

Article – Standing as Witnesses of God – If we can pattern our life after the Master, and take his teachings and example as the supreme pattern for our own, we will not find it difficult to be consistent and loyal in every walk of life, for we will be committed to a single, sacred standard of conduct and belief.

Video – Belshazzar and the Writing on the Wall – Daniel chapter 5 tells yet another story of how God’s prophecy trumps the conventional wisdom of the Babylonian court. One lesson from this story is to not be afraid to stand as a witness of God. Time and again, Daniel shows us that the power of God is greater than the power of manmade kingdoms.
