Gathered in this post are resources to help you teach your family not only the stories of the people in the Old Testament but also the doctrine and principles found in the study block for the Come, Follow Me reading of Isaiah 13-14; 24-30; 35. There are resources for children, youth, and adults. Every resource linked to is free! Most links are to church websites or websites approved for further gospel study. Choose on thing a day to do with your family or a couple to do for family home evening. Enjoy!

Poster – Article of Faith 6 – Print this poster to display in your home to help everyone memorize this Article of Faith.

Video – Restoration of Christ’s Church | Now You Know – The divine return of the Church of Jesus Christ, coupled with modern-day prophets, apostles, priesthood authority, and all gospel light and knowledge, is what members of the Church refer to as the Restoration. (5:13 minutes)

Primary Children

Lesson – The Prophet Isaiah – Old Testament Primary Manual

There was a war in heaven. Isaiah 14:12-14

Article – Jehovah and the Wonderful Plan of Heavenly Father  – A description of pre-earth life, the Godhead, and mortal life.

Lesson – I Shouted for Joy! – Did you know that you attended the Council in Heaven before your were born?

Story – Jesus Loves Me – A simple telling about Jesus and His place in Heavenly Father’s plan.

Video – Before the Old Testament – We lived in heaven with Heavenly Father before this life. We had spirit bodies. We came to this earth to be tested in order to return to live with Him again. It is only through Jesus Christ’s Atonement that we can return to live with God. (2:46 minutes)

Jesus Christ was resurrected. Isaiah 25:8

Activity – Jesus Was Resurrected – Color by number

Activity/Article – He Lives! – A young boy has a testimony of resurrection even though he has never seen the Savior. Includes printable illustrations about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Story – Jesus Finishes His Mission on Earth – A retelling of the story of the Savior’s resurrection.

The Lord restored His Church through Joseph Smith. Isaiah 29:12, 14

Activity – The Lord restored His Church through Joseph Smith – Color and make a booklet

Activity – The Church was Organized – Coloring page

Activity/Article – Jesus Christ Restored the Fulness of the Gospel through Joseph Smith – A description of the Restoration with a scripture journal prompt and story-wheel craft.

Story – The Restoration Puzzle – Anna gives a talk on the Restoration in Primary by using puzzle pieces to represent parts of the gospel that were lost and then restored.

Apostasy means turning away from the Lord and His prophets. Isaiah 24:3-5; 29:7-10; 30:8-14

Activity/Article – ‘This Is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!’ – A lesson about the Restoration and an activity to make a paper Church building.

Audio – After the New Testament – A Primary teacher and children talk about the Church after the death Christ’s Apostles. Because of the wickedness of the people, the Church was taken from the earth for a time, but Heavenly Father prepared a plan that would restore the Church in the latter days. Through a young man named Joseph Smith, God restored the Church to the earth, and we are here today as members of that Church. Just as the people of ancient Israel came to know Christ when He was on the earth, we can come to know Him, too, because His gospel and Church have been restored.

Video – Jesus Organizes the Church – We asked kids to tell us about the way Jesus organized the Church in their own words. (2:02 minutes)

Video – After the New Testament – After the death of Jesus, the Apostles tried to teach the gospel to the wicked people. The Apostles were killed, so the true church was taken away from the earth. Through the prophet Joseph Smith, God brought His gospel back to the earth. (2:51 minutes)

The Restoration of the gospel is a “marvellous work.” Isaiah 29:13-15, 18, 24

Activity – The Restored Church – Match the restored truth with the scripture verses that describe it.

Activity – Reading Challenge: The Restoration – Read scriptures about truths revealed to Joseph Smith and fill in the coloring page that goes with it.

Activity – The Restoration and Me – Cut out these cards to create a matching game about some of the things that happened to bring Jesus Christ’s Church back to earth and how they bless us. 

Activity – Golden Plates to the Book of Mormon – Follow the path to learn how we got the Book of Mormon.

Isaiah’s teachings point me to Jesus Christ. Isaiah 14:3; 25:8; 28:16

The wicked kingdoms of the world and their rulers will fall. Isaiah 13:1-11, 19-22; 14:1-20

Article – A Message to the World – To the rulers and peoples of all nations, we solemnly declare again that the God of heaven has established his latter-day kingdom upon the earth in fulfillment of prophecies.

The writings of Isaiah point me to Jesus Christ. Isaiah 24:21-23; 25:6-8; 26:19; 28:16

Video – The Great Apostasy – Wilford Woodruff’s search for the true Church explains the Apostasy and need for the Restoration. It emphasizes four essential elements of the true Church that were lost because of the Great Apostasy. (16:33 minutes)

The Lord can restore things that are lost or broken. Isaiah 29; 30:18-26; 35

Article – Christ Heals that Which is Broken – He can heal broken relationships with God, broken relationships with others, and broken parts of ourselves.
