Gathered in this post are resources to help you teach your family not only the stories of the people in the Old Testament but also the doctrine and principles found in the study block for the Come, Follow Me reading of 2 Kings 17-25. There are resources for children, youth, and adults. Every resource linked to is free! Most links are to church websites or websites approved for further gospel study. Choose on thing a day to do with your family or a couple to do for family home evening. Enjoy!

Article – Scriptural Giants: The Boy King – A simple retelling of the story for the entire family.

Music – Search, Ponder, and Pray – Gather the family to sing along to this Primary song.

Video – Josiah and the Book of the Law – (2 Kings 22-23) King Josiah motivates his kingdom to repent from their wicked ways by reading from the Book of the Law. (12:25 minutes)

Article – By Divine Design – The Lord’s hand is guiding you. By “divine design,” He is in the small details of your life as well as the major milestones.

Video – Inspiring Short: Faith to Do His Will | Beth Luthy – Though it is not always easy, God expects us to trust in Him. Beth Luthy shares how having the faith to do His will caused miracles to happen in her life. (4:07 minutes)

Video – Drawing Upon the Power of God in Our Lives – Elder Kelly R. Johnson, a member of the Seventy with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, reconstructs an experience with his children while they were all home working in the yard. His daughter went inside the house and used an empty microwave oven to time her 30-minute piano practice. But without anything inside the oven to absorb the high-powered energy of the operating microwave, a near crisis of a self-destructing appliance required the family to respond quickly to avert disaster. Elder Kelly compares this phenomenon to what can happen if we don’t have genuine substance within ourselves and neglect to utilize God’s power and be prepared for challenging times. (4:09 minutes)

The scriptures can turn my heart to the Lord. 2 Kings 21-23

Article – The Blessing of Scripture – The central purpose of all scripture is to fill our souls with faith in God the Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Article – Scriptures: The Word of God – The scriptures are holy books that were written mainly by prophets. The scriptures testify of Jesus Christ and teach about His gospel.

Article – The Scriptures Turn Our Hearts to God – President Spencer W. Kimball said that the account of King Josiah, found in 2 Kings 21–23, “is one of the finest stories in all of the scriptures”.

Article – Huldah – It is important to note that Huldah does not reveal anything, she interprets and clarifies what is already written and revealed. She is not acting as a seer and revelator, but she is teaching, edifying, warning, and bearing testimony of God’s words.
