Gathered in this post are resources to help you teach your family not only the stories of the people in the Old Testament but also the doctrine and principles found in the study block for the Come, Follow Me reading of Exodus 24; 31-34. There are resources for children, youth, and adults. Every resource linked to is free! Most links are to church websites or websites approved for further gospel study. Choose on thing a day to do with your family or a couple to do for family home evening. Enjoy!

Everyone

Video – The Covenant Path – On the covenant path we can find the essential blessings of forgiveness and cleansing from sin. (2:30 minutes)

Video – Standing By Our Covenants and Promises – Ronald A. Rasband explains how important it is to keep the promises and covenants we make to the Lord as well as to our fellowmen. (2:10 minutes)

Video – The Sabbath is a Delight – Russell M. Nelson has said that “Faith in God engenders a love for the Sabbath. Faith in the Sabbath engenders a love for God.” What can you do to abide with the Lord? (2:54 minutes)

Video – Inspiring Short: True Blue, Through and Through – Then BYU president Jeffrey R. Holland shared a story of integrity and faith in a 1986 devotional. While traveling back from a mission in Hawaii, nineteen-year-old Joseph F. Smith had a run in with  a group of men intent on hurting any member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that they came across. Smith’s response showed courage in answering the question “For what do I live?” (1:45 minutes)

Video – How to Draw the Ten Commandments – In this drawing lesson, the artist shows us how to illustrate the stone tablets with the Ten Commandments written on them that were given to Moses in Exodus 20. Gospel for Kids (12:17 minutes)

Article – Careful vs Casual – As the influences of the world increasingly embrace the evil, we must strive with all diligence to stay firmly on the path that leads us safely to our Savior.

Article – The Lord’s Day – Ever since Adam’s day the divine law of the Sabbath has been emphasized repeatedly over the centuries more than any other commandment. This long emphasis alone is an indication of its importance.

Sin is turning away from God, but He offers a way back. Exodus 32-34

Article – Remember How Merciful the Lord Hath Been – There are clusters of memories embedded in each of your lives. And these can help us to “remember how merciful the Lord hath been.”

Article – “Repent … That I May Heal You”– The invitation to repent is rarely a voice of chastisement but rather a loving appeal to turn around and to “re-turn” toward God.

Video – Parallels Between the Golden Calf and the Fall – Exodus 32 features the account of Aaron and the Israelites making and worshipping a golden calf while Moses was on the mountaintop. While it may not be immediately obvious, this story has a lot of parallels with the Fall of Adam and Eve. It illustrates in a really poignant way how the Israelite tabernacle, and the future temple, would bring about a reversal of the Fall and bring Israel into the presence of God. Video – Repentance: A Joyful Choice – Dale G. Renlund tells a childhood story of lighting a firecracker in the chapel right before church began. He relates his story to the joy of repentance. (4:36 minutes)

We need God’s presence in our lives. Exodus 33:11-17

Article – Which Way Do You Face? – Trying to please others before pleasing God is inverting the first and second great commandments.

Article – God’s Love: The Most Joyous to the Soul – God’s love is not found in the circumstances of our lives but in His presence in our lives.
