Gathered in this post are resources to help you teach your family not only the stories of the people in the Old Testament but also the doctrine and principles found in the study block for the Come, Follow Me reading of Exodus 1-6. There are resources for children, youth, and adults. Every resource linked to is free! Most links are to church websites or websites approved for further gospel study. Choose on thing a day to do with your family or a couple to do for family home evening. Enjoy!

Article – Women in Moses’s Life – Many women played an important role in preparing the prophet Moses to serve the Lord.

Video – The Sacred Name of Jehovah – In the ancient world, knowing a God’s sacred name could grant power. God giving His name to Moses was a source of strength and power to him when he faced the daunting task of delivering the Israelites. The sacred knowledge of God’s name can strengthen us and give us power through hard times. It brings us into a closer relationship with God, and it can ultimately help us to become more like Him. Jesus Christ is our Deliverer. Exodus 1-2

Article – The Rock of Our Redeemer – If we have true faith in our Redeemer, we do something about it, because we have real intent.

Article – “In the Strength of the Lord” – As you and I come to understand and employ the enabling power of the Atonement in our personal lives, we will pray and seek for strength to change our circumstances rather than praying for our circumstances to be changed.

Article – By Divine Design – The Lord’s hand is guiding you. By “divine design,” He is in the small details of your life as well as the major milestones.

As we do the Lord’s work, we can have the Lord’s power. God gives power to those He calls to do His work. Exodus 3-4; 6:3

Article – Serve – Every member is needed, and every member needs an opportunity to serve.

Video – Inspiring Short: In the Strength of the Lord | David A. Bednar – Christ’s Atonement does more than cleanse us from sin. His grace is also an enabling power to become better and serve more faithfully. (2:05 minutes)

We should show reverence for holy things and places. Exodus 3:5

Article – Enhancing Our Temple Experience – There is a difference in just attending the temple and having a rich spiritual experience.

Article – A Sense of the Sacred – All things sacred and holy are to be revealed and brought together in this last and most wonderful dispensation. With the Restoration of the gospel, the Church, and the priesthood of Jesus Christ, we hold an almost incomprehensible store of sacred things in our hands.

The Lord’s purposes will be fulfilled in His own time. Exodus 5:4-9, 20-23; 6:1-13

Article – Continue in Patience – The lessons we learn from patience will cultivate our character, lift our lives, and heighten our happiness.

Article – “Angels to Beckon Me” – We are not meant to accomplish this life alone. While we are waiting, we have angels ascending and descending all around us.

Article – Timing – The first principle of the gospel is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith means trust—trust in God’s will, trust in His way of doing things, and trust in His timetable. We should not try to impose our timetable on His.

Article – Finding Your Purpose – Believe that you have a divine purpose. Believe that you have unique talents that are unmatched in the world. Work hard and pray. The Lord will help. He will direct you to your best self.

Article – The Fantasy and the Reality of Your Royal Identity – We are each of royal birth—princesses and princes in our own right. We have the potential to have greater power and reach than the most powerful superhero portrayed in the media today.

Article – Becoming a Work of Art – Let us understand our eternal perspective and turn our lives into beautiful works of art that were planned by a loving Heavenly Father who developed a plan of redemption so that we could return to His presence.
